Gerald DeLucia

Gerald "Jerry" DeLucia, 74, of Houtzdale, passed away Thursday April 18, 2024 at his home.

Born January 25, 1950 in Clearfield, he was a son of the late Roland and Catherine (Verrelli) DeLucia.

Jerry was a member of Faith United Lutheran Church, Houtzdale and chairman of the W.O. Gulbranson Lutheran Scholarship Fund.

He was a member of Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association of the United States, and the Moshannon Valley Education Association.

Jerry was employed by the Moshannon Valley School District in the math department until his retirement in 2007.

Jerry was inducted into the District 6 Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Central Pennsylvania Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.  He coached football at Moshannon Valley High School and Philipsburg Osceola High School and coached wrestling at Moshannon Valley.

Jerry enjoyed gardening, traveling with family and friends, and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was their number one fan.

On June 1, 1968 he married Joyce (Gephart) DeLucia, who survives at home.

Also surviving is his son Gerald M (Sherri) DeLucia of Brisbin and daughter Lisa (Eric) Lutz of Smethport, along with four grandchildren; Rain DeLucia, Caleb and Abby Lutz, Kaeli Criscitello, and a brother Ronald (Carol) DeLucia of Curwensville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather Milton (Turk) Wilkinson.

Family and friends will be received at the Birger A. Freeberg Funeral Home Inc. Houtzdale on Monday April 22,2024 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and Tuesday from 9-10:30am.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday April 23, 2024 at 11:00am at Faith United Lutheran Church, Houtzdale with Pastor Christine Roe officiating.

Interment will be in Historic Crown Crest Cemetery. Clearfield.  

The family requests donations be made in Jerry's memory to the American Heart Association or any youth sports association.
